Department of Mechanics (U 12105) is an organization unit of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CTU in Prague, consisting of Division of Strength of Material, (SM), Division of Mechanics of Solids (MS) and of three laboratories - laboratory of Biomechanics of Man (LBM), Laboratory of structural analysis of Josef Božek (LSA), and Laboratory of mechatronics and dynamics of Josef Božek.

The Department 12105 provides at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering the education in undergraduate engineering study of basic courses of mechanics and the education in graduate engineering study in the study branches of Applied Mechanics, Mechatronics, Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering. The department 12105 also provides the education in postgraduate study in science branches of Mechanics of Solids, Deformable Bodies and Continua, and Biomechanics.

The Department 12105 is dealing within the grants and broad cooperation with industry with the solution of many scientific, research and development problems of the professional specialization of particular divisions of the department.
